Gotham Moving Systems offers white glove packing and unpacking across New York City from its office on Greene Avenue in Brooklyn. We review your items before the move, bring specialized materials, and always special-pack the hard things, TVs, lamps, electronics, mirrors, artwork, sculptures, glass and marble, and hanging clothes, as part of our standard moving package.

For paintings and sculpture, see our fine art movers, for a downsize our senior moving service, and for the building side of a pack in the borough, our Brooklyn movers.

What sets us apart

How we handle white glove packing

Planned before we pack

Before your move starts, our movers review your items and work out how each one will be packed and which materials it needs. It is how we get you to your new home safely.

Packing for long-term storage

Going into storage? We double wrap your items, add special protection for the longer stay, and shrink wrap them to keep the dust off.

Last-minute packing

When you need to move in a New York minute, our last-minute packing service can help you get it all boxed in time.

In more detail

How we pack, item by item

The plan comes before the first box

Before your move starts, our movers review your items and develop a customized approach to how they will pack. For each item we work out which materials it needs. It is how we move smart and get you to your new home safely and smoothly.

We use a specific procedure for each kind of item. Lamps go in special boxes, mattresses go into special bags, and flat-screen TVs have their own packing procedure.

Items we always special-pack

Hard-to-pack items are always part of our standard moving package. We know from experience that it is better to leave these to the professionals.

  • Flat-screen TVs, wrapped and packed in plasma boxes
  • Lamps, packed in lamp boxes
  • Electronics, wrapped and packed in cardboard boxes
  • Mirrors, wrapped and packed in cardboard boxes
  • Artwork and sculptures, wrapped and packed in cardboard boxes
  • Glass or marble items, boxed in cardboard (items up to 4 feet)
  • Hanging clothes, in wardrobe boxes

The everyday things as well

Our specialists are trained to pack the rest of your home quickly, efficiently and safely, and that saves you a lot of time and frustration. We can take care of all of it:

  • Dishes, pots and pans, wrapped and packed in cardboard boxes
  • Books, shoes and toys, packed in cardboard boxes
  • Fragile items and documents

Packing for storage or for a long trip

If your things are going into storage, we double wrap them for the longer stay, add special protection so they stay in great condition for as long as they are stored, and shrink wrap them to keep dust off. We pack to suit the distance too. For a long distance move we pack extra-safe and shrink wrap everything so all items are well protected.

Unpacking and short notice

We can unpack for you at your new home, so you can start settling in. If you are short on time, our last-minute packing service is there for when you need to move in a New York minute. Tell us on the phone how much is already boxed.

Why leave the hard items to us

TVs, lamps, mirrors, glass and marble items and hanging clothes are the things people most often get wrong when they pack alone, because each one needs its own box or bag. Our crews have the specialized materials on the truck and the procedure for each item, and these items are included in the standard moving package rather than billed as extras.

What you can do to help

  • Set aside what should not be packed by anyone else: medications, jewelry, passports, and important papers
  • Tell us which items are fragile, valuable or hard to replace
  • Decide beforehand whether you want everything packed, or only the hard rooms such as the kitchen
