Before the move
Booking, timing and packing.
Do you do last-minute moves?
Yes. When you need to move in a New York minute, our last-minute moving service can help. Call 212-732-1234 rather than emailing, and we will tell you what we can do.
What days do you work?
Our office is open Monday to Sunday, from 9am to 9pm.
How do I get a quote?
Call 212-732-1234, fill in the quote form, schedule a video tour, or upload photos or a video of your inventory. The quote is free.
Can you pack for me?
Yes. We plan every packing job, bring the materials each item needs, and always special-pack TVs, lamps, electronics, mirrors, artwork, sculptures, glass and marble, and hanging clothes as part of our standard moving package.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Our New York moving service covers Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Westchester and New Jersey, and we have a Long Island office at 270 W Merrick Rd, Valley Stream. Moving out of state, including to Florida? Call 212-732-1234 and we will tell you what we can do.
Do I have to empty my dresser drawers before the move?
Yes. We require all drawers to be emptied before the day of the move. Furniture with full drawers is not transported, because of the risk of damage to the furniture and to the walls and floors of your building.
What should I not hand over to the movers?
Keep firearms, jewelry, cash, bank notes, financial instruments, hazardous materials and liquids with you. We cannot carry them and accept no liability for them.
Are packing supplies included in the price?
Packing supplies are not included in the transportation cost. If you need them, they are charged. We can also pack for you, just ask when you get your quote.
Do you do antique moving?
Yes. Antique moving is part of our specialty moving services. Call 212-732-1234, tell us about the piece and the stairs or elevator at both ends, and we will plan it.
Pricing and payment
How a move is priced, deposits, and how you can pay.
How do you price a move?
Our pricing is based on what you are moving and the distance it travels. Local moves are charged at straightforward hourly rates, and all transportation, gas and tolls are included.
Will the price change on move day?
When we give you a quote, we stick with it. The quote is based on what you are moving, so tell us about everything that is going when you ask for it.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, bank checks, company checks, and major credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. Personal checks are not accepted.
Can I get my deposit back if I cancel?
Yes. If you cancel before your scheduled pickup date, your deposit is fully refundable.
Licensing and buildings
Our numbers, checking a mover is licensed, and the certificate of insurance some buildings ask for.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We are a fully licensed and insured moving company: USDOT 3453789, MC 1125197. Under state regulations, every licensed carrier is required to carry moving, cargo and liability insurance.
How do I check a mover is legitimate?
Make sure the mover is licensed and insured. Ask for their USDOT number and check it is on their paperwork and their website, and ask what coverage comes with the move.
What is a COI and do I need one?
A COI is a certificate of insurance. Some buildings require one from the mover before a move, so check with your building management. Tell us what your building needs and we send it.
Can you handle a move where parking is hard?
Yes. We handle moves of any size, including buildings with parking problems such as apartment complexes and senior living communities. Tell us about the street and the building when you book.
Protection, long distance and storage
Valuation, damage, delivery windows and what happens when the dates do not line up.
What happens if something gets damaged?
Call us and we will solve your claim as soon as possible. What you get back depends on the coverage you chose: basic coverage is free and pays up to 60 cents a pound, and Full Value Protection is our most complete plan.
Should I buy Full Value Protection?
Basic coverage comes at no extra cost, but it is considerably less than the average value of household goods. Full Value Protection is the most comprehensive plan for protecting your things, and for more than that we partner with third-party providers.
Can you promise an exact delivery date?
No mover doing it properly can. Federal rules give interstate carriers delivery windows rather than exact dates, because weight, routing and weather all play a part. Ask about the window for your route when you get your quote.
How long does a move take?
It depends on the time of year, the weather, the size of your shipment, the time needed to load and unload, and the direction and distance it is traveling.
Can you store my things between dates?
Yes, short or long term. Your things are double wrapped and kept in our climate-controlled, secure storage facilities, and storage is dispatched from our Brooklyn, NY and Tampa, FL locations.
Four more things people ask us
These come up on the phone after the basics are done.
Do you take furniture apart?
Yes, we disassemble and reassemble essential furniture pieces. Elaborate pieces may need a third-party professional or extra labor, so tell your estimator in advance. Reassembly depends on the tools and parts being available at delivery.
What if I add items on moving day?
The estimate reserves space on the truck for what is listed on it. Anything extra may not fit, and you are only charged for the items actually picked up. Tell us about changes at least 3 business days before pickup.
Can you help a senior downsize?
Yes. We start with an in-home estimate, then assign a move consultant who answers your questions and points you to the right services, from sorting your belongings to packing and unpacking.
Do you move offices?
Yes, for businesses of all sizes. We plan the date and time, pack items by how often they are used, help plan the new space, and ask you to provide a layout and oversee the move-in.
