Riverdale, Marble Hill and University Heights, planned around the building.

Gotham Moving Systems is a family-owned Brooklyn moving company at 295 Greene Ave, run by a team of industry veterans with over 20 years of experience, and the Bronx is on our New York service list, from Riverdale and Marble Hill to University Heights.

A Bronx move is a local move from our Brooklyn base: hourly rates, with transportation, gas and tolls included. The price is based on what you are moving and the distance it travels, and it can change if items are added, so tell us everything that is going when you ask for the quote.

Coming up from the city? See our Manhattan movers, or our Westchester movers for a move north out of the borough. Our neighborhoods guide has a short card on University Heights.

Moving in the Bronx

What is different about a Bronx move

Stairs and elevators

Tell us the floor, the stairs and whether there is an elevator at each address. Stairs take time on an hourly move, so we plan the crew around them.

Building paperwork

Some buildings require a certificate of insurance from the mover and want the elevator booked ahead. Check with the building management at both addresses, and we send what it asks for.

Parking and the carry

Confirm the parking restrictions at both addresses. If the truck cannot park close enough, a long carry or shuttle truck charge is added to the order, so find out before moving day.

A quote without a trip

Schedule a video tour, or upload photos or a video of your inventory, and we quote your Bronx move from that. We can also send a moving consultant to your home.

Moving in the Bronx, in more detail

The Bronx is the only New York City borough on the mainland, and a move there starts with the same questions as any New York move: the building, the stairs and the truck.

Where we go in the Bronx

Our New York moving service serves Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Westchester and New Jersey, so the Bronx is part of our regular service area, not a special trip. The neighborhoods we name on our service list are Riverdale and Marble Hill, and University Heights is one we describe in our neighborhoods guide.

If your block is not on that list, call and ask. The list is a starting point, not a boundary. Bronxville is a separate place: it is in Westchester County, and it is covered on our Westchester page.

Riverdale, Marble Hill and University Heights

Whatever the neighborhood, the questions are the same: which floor, how many stairs, whether there is an elevator, and where the truck can stop. In our guide we describe University Heights as older streets and buildings, mostly residential, and older buildings mean stairs and narrow halls.

Washington Heights, in Manhattan, sits on the border between Manhattan and the Bronx, and we move there too. A move from one side of that border to the other is still a local move from our Brooklyn base.

Certificates of insurance and elevator booking

Some buildings require a certificate of insurance from the mover, and some want the elevator booked ahead for moving day. Check with the building management at both your current and your new address, then tell us what each one needs, and we send what the building asks for. A fee may apply depending on the building’s requirements.

If you are moving between a walk-up and a larger building, say so when you call. The two ends of a move can have very different rules, and it is easier to plan around them than to find out on the morning.

Parking, the carry and any change to the order

Please confirm the parking restrictions with the building management or the local police department at both addresses, so the truck avoids parking violations. If the truck cannot park close enough, whether physically or because of parking rules, long carry or shuttle truck charges apply and are added to the order, so it is worth finding out before moving day.

Tell us about any change to what you are moving at least 3 business days before the move. If property is added, the price can change, and a revised estimate is signed before the crew starts loading.

How a Bronx quote works

Call us and we can send one of our moving consultants to your home to see what is moving and give you a free, no-obligation quote. If a visit is hard to arrange, schedule a video tour, or upload photos or a video of your inventory, and we quote from that.

The price is based on what you are moving and the distance it travels. Local moves are charged at hourly rates, with all transportation, gas and tolls included.

Packing, storage and short notice

We can pack and unpack for you, the whole home or just the kitchen and the breakable pieces. Packing supplies are charged if required, and they are part of your estimate only if they are listed on it. If your dates do not line up, we keep your things double wrapped in our climate-controlled, secure storage until the new place is ready.

If the date is close, our last-minute moving service can help. Call and tell us the dates and the two addresses, rather than emailing.

Quick answers for the Bronx

Which Bronx neighborhoods do you serve?

Riverdale and Marble Hill are on our New York service list, and University Heights is in our neighborhoods guide. If yours is not named, call with the two addresses and ask.

Is Bronxville part of the Bronx?

No. Bronxville is in Westchester County, and we cover it on our Westchester page.

What should I do before moving day?

Check with the building management at both addresses about a certificate of insurance, elevator booking and parking, and tell us at least 3 business days before the move about any change to what is moving.
